Position Sensor for Plastics Blow Molding Machines

Position-Monitoring-Instrumentation-For-Plastics-Industry

For many years Gemco has been a part of the automated manufacturing process, delivering quality position sensors to manufacturing machinery in the plastic industry; we do so due to our vast knowledge of linear displacement transducers in cylinders, and we are successfully delivering extreme accuracy and the repeatability and longevity expected from the manufacturers.

Many plastics manufacturing lines have been using linear potentiometers due to the cheap process on these, but when you calculate the lifetime and number of expected downtime, the linear transducers, also known as BLOK or BRIK style.

Plastic blow molding demands accuracy and ruggedness with temperature and, in some cases, vibration or shock. The need for repeatability is obvious; accuracy must be maintained to secure the manufacturing machinery's quality and speed. In many cases, a potentiometer solution will tend to get “lazy” and less accurate or with poorer accuracy outside the normal working area. In contrast, the Linear Displacement Transducer will provide a position sensor that maintains versatility and accuracy for the entire lifetime, significantly higher than the standard potentiometer.

Our engineers are used to working with engineers in the planning phase of a new manufacturing line, securing that everything works perfectly from day one. Still, we are also experienced in providing the right position sensors to already installed manufacturing lines for automated blow molding or other moving machinery.

Our engineers are experienced in Applications including presses, blow molding, injection molding, extrusion, roll positioning, wicket gates, and many more.
Here’s some of our unique features

Auto-tuning
Some of the Gemco linear position sensors can sense a magnet within the pneumatic cylinder, the then the position sensor will adjust its signal strength accordingly. This makes mounting the linear displacement transducer on an already installed machine that needs an update.

Programmable Zero & Span
Gemco position sensors can be programmed to the working span and zero point, exactly where you need it. This provides flexibility and secures the working accuracy of the individual linear displacement transducer
